A 19-year-old ironworker was killed Tuesday when he fell about 25 feet from a roof in Simi Valley after touching a steel beam that had been electrified by a power line, Simi Valley police said.

The man, a resident of Buena Park whose name was withheld until relatives are notified, was pronounced dead at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura after the 3:56 p.m. accident, Lt. Bob Klamser said.

The man was guiding a steel beam into position when he apparently was touched by the girder and fell off the roof, Klamser said. It has not been determined if he was electrocuted or died from head injuries suffered in the fall, Klamser said.

The California Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the accident, which occurred at a construction site at the northwest corner of Heywood Street and Erringer Road, Klamser said.
