Anaheim : Passenger Killed, DUI Charge Filed in Crash
A driver was arrested on a charge of felony drunk driving and his passenger was killed Saturday morning when their vehicle drifted onto the median of a freeway transition road and collided with a disabled vehicle parked there, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The victim was identified as Scott Godinez, 19, of Corona.
A CHP spokeswoman said the accident occurred about 3:15 a.m. when the driver, Randall Richard Griffin, 19, of Corona was driving on the transition road from the northbound Costa Mesa Freeway to the eastbound Riverside Freeway.
Griffin’s car drifted onto the V-shaped median between a freeway and a transition road, the CHP said. It collided with an abandoned vehicle parked there, off the eastbound Riverside Freeway, east of the Costa Mesa Freeway, the spokeswoman said.
Griffin sustained minor injuries, the CHP said.
