Golf Roundup : U.S. Rallies in World Cup but Still Trails by 5 Shots

Tom Kite shot a six-under-par 66, and partner Lanny Wadkins had a 70 Saturday as the United States pulled within five strokes of front-running Canada after three rounds of the 32nd World Cup and International Trophy golf championship at La Quinta, Calif.
Canadians Dave Barr and Dan Halldorson each shot a 70 for a team total of 413, to 418 for the United States. England fell to third at 420, despite a 66 by Howard Clark.
In the individual competition, Clark led with a 202, two shots ahead of Halldorson.
Ken Still shot a five-under-par 67 for a three-stroke lead with a 133 total after 36 holes of the $200,000 Quadel Seniors tournament at Boca Raton, Fla.
Dan Sikes, who shared the first-round lead with Still, and Ben Smith, who spent 20 years in the auto-repair business before turning pro, are tied for second at 136. Sikes shot a 70 and Smith a 65.
Tsuneyuki Nakajima, the leading money-winner this year on the Japanese tour, shot a 70 for a 205 total and a two-stroke lead over Spain’s Severiano Balesteros in the $600,000 Dunlop Phoenix tournament at Miyazaki, Japan.
