Orange : Hospice Program to Hold Tree Ceremony
St. Joseph Hospital’s Hospice Volunteer Program will hold its second annual “Light Up a Life” Christmas ceremony on the hospital grounds, 1000 W. Stewart Drive, at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 8.
The event features the illumination of a live redwood tree with hundreds of small light bulbs that were “purchased” in the memory of loved ones. Donors give $10 each for the small bulbs on the tree and $100 each for lights in the star at the top of the tree.
Donations are used by the Hospice Volunteer Program to help terminally ill patients. Last year--the inaugural of the tree-lighting ceremony--about $17,000 in donations was raised.
The tree lighting is preceded by the singing of Christmas carols by candlelight.
