Charlie Brown Wins 10-Round Decision Over Roman Delgado
Charlie (White Lightning) Brown punched out a unanimous 10-round decision over Roman Delgado in a junior welterweight bout Tuesday night at the Country Club in Reseda.
Brown, 141 1/2, of North Hollywood improved his record to 26-2 by easily outdistancing his shorter, left-handed opponent throughout the 10 rounds. He won every round on all three scorecards.
Despite the lopsided decision, Delgado (14-12) San Francisco kept himself in every round but failed to stay busy enough to gain control. He suffered a cut over the left eye in the ninth round before finishing strong over the last three minutes.
Delgado, weighing in three pounds overweight at 146, staggered Brown in the second round with a right hook. Brown, however, held on and recovered to win the round.
