The Milwaukee Bucks are in position to equal the club record for consecutive home wins, but it doesn’t figure to be easy.

Terry Cummings scored 29 points, and Sidney Moncrief added 24 Saturday night as the Bucks beat the Indiana Pacers, 111-94, for their 24th consecutive regular-season victory at Milwaukee Arena.

The record for consecutive home victories is 25. The Bucks will try to tie the record Tuesday night when they host the Boston Celtics. The last team to beat the Bucks at home was the Atlanta Hawks, who won, 94-91, in overtime last February.

“The fans are right next to the court in this building and they really have helped our team,” Milwaukee Coach Don Nelson said. “Over the last couple of years I bet they have meant 10 wins to this club. This is a super building to play in.”

Indiana Coach George Irvine said the Bucks are hard to play against anywhere.

“They are a good team that is approaching becoming a great team. They seem to play with more confidence in this building,” he said. “We played them tough for three quarters tonight, but in the fourth quarter we just missed too many easy shots and they made some tough ones.”

The Bucks took control at the beginning of the fourth quarter as they outscored the Pacers, 7-0, to grab an 89-80 lead with 9:05 remaining on Moncrief’s long jumper.

Herb Williams scored 20 points for the Pacers, who lost for the eighth straight time.

Philadelphia 115, New York 95--Moses Malone scored 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds at New York as the 76ers won their third game in a row.

Sedale Threatt added 17 points for the 76ers, followed by Charles Barkley with 16 and Julius Erving with 13.

Pat Cummings led New York with 23 points and 15 rebounds. Patrick Ewing had 22 points and 8 rebounds before fouling out in the fourth quarter.

Denver’s Alex English fouled out in the second overtime with a game-high 35 points.

Bill Hanzlik of the Nuggets sank a three-pointer as regulation time ran out to tie the score at 109-109. English hit two free throws with one second left in the first overtime to tie the score at 119-119.

Sikma then took over, converting six of six from the free-throw as Seattle knocked the Nuggets out of first place in the Midwest Division, a half-game behind Houston.

Washington 133, Detroit 119--Jeff Ruland and Cliff Robinson each scored 29 points, and Ruland had a triple-double for the Bullets at Landover, Md.
