USIU Is 8th After First Day of Golf Meet
The U.S. International men’s golf team had an eighth-place total of 304, 30 strokes behind first-place Oklahoma State, in the opening round of the three-day, 13-team Rebel tournament Tuesday at Las Vegas.
The Gulls were led by Tom Rasmussen and Michael Owen, who each shot 74. Three players from Oklahoma State--Steve Verblank, E.J. Pfister and Tim Fleming--led the individual standings at 68.
Oren Brown had USIU’s third-best score, 76, followed by Jim Hillsbery at 80 and Jim Wahl at 83.
