Fatal Rooming House Fire Linked to Portable Heater

SANDUSKY, Ohio —
A rooming house fire that killed three people and injured five others probably started when a portable electric heater ignited a bed, authorities said Wednesday.
A pregnant woman and two men died of what appeared to be smoke inhalation Tuesday when a late-afternoon fire gutted the second floor of their rooming house, said Erie County Coroner Dr. Joseph A. Buder.
