Free agent outfielder Kirk Gibson has rejected...
Free agent outfielder Kirk Gibson has rejected the latest contract offer from the Detroit Tigers, who offered Gibson more money (a reported $4 million for three years) than previously but have not met Gibson’s desire for a five-year deal.
Gibson has given the Tigers a self-imposed deadline of Dec. 21--the day he is to marry fiancee JoAnn Sklarski--to re-sign him. At the moment, no other team has shown interest in the 28-year-old outfielder. Gibson’s agent, Doug Baldwin, is scheduled to meet with the Tigers again today.
