Jessica Tandy to Rest in Hospital Through Friday

Actress Jessica Tandy will remain in Good Samaritan Hospital at least through Friday following her collapse on stage during a performance of “Foxfire,” a spokeswoman for the hospital said today.

The 76-year-old actress was reported to be “doing fine,” the spokeswoman said, but would remain at the hospital “for rest and observation.” Her husband, actor Hume Cronyn, who is her co-star in the production at the Ahmanson Theater, was at her bedside.

Tandy, who plays the role of an old mountain woman, was sitting on a stool on stage in the play’s first act when she fainted Tuesday night and was rushed to the hospital. At first, the hospital announced that she would just be kept overnight and did not say today why she will not be released until Friday.
