Tom Gorman has been selected to succeed Arthur Ashe as captain of the United States Davis Cup team, according to the U.S. Tennis Assn.
Ashe resigned in October after learning that he was about to be replaced. His teams won the international team competition in 1981, his first year as captain, and in 1982.
Gorman, 39, was a member of the 1972, 1973 and 1975 Davis Cup teams.
