The finals in the Head Grand Prix Masters tournament are set for today at the Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego. The tournament marks the end of the Southern California senior tennis season. The top eight point winners in the 53-tournament Grand Prix circuit advanced to the Masters’ draw.

Sally Huss of Laguna Niguel earned more than 1,000 points and qualified for the Masters in three age divisions. Since the rules don’t allow her to play in more than one, Huss will compete in the women’s 35. For the first time in the history of the event, two players accumulated more than 2,000 points on the Grand Prix circuit--Robin Willner of Los Angeles and Alex Swetka of Mountain View.

Tennis Notes Martina Navratilova, on what changes have occurred in women’s tennis: “I don’t see many changes. I think the biggest change would be if Chris (Evert-Lloyd) and I retired.” . . . Changes, however, have occurred in Jimmy Connors’ life--marriage and two children. They seem to have mellowed the once-combative Connors. “My children have changed me in a lot of ways,” he said. “They have changed me in ways tennis never could.” Connors’ exhibition against McEnroe last week was the first match he has played in five weeks because of a back injury. “I enjoyed the time off, which is probably more important than anything,” he said. “I got away from tennis, which is what I should have done. It gave me chance to reacquaint myself with my family. That’s important to me.”
