Mayes Heads Pac-10 Selections in Shrine Game

Running back Rueben Mayes of Washington State, the Pacific 10 rushing leader and Offensive Player of the Year in the conference, is among 12 Pac-10 players on the West roster for the 61st Shrine East-West Game.

The college football all-star game will be played Jan. 11 at Stanford Stadium.

Mayes rushed for 1,236 yards this season. The back from North Battleford, Saskatchewan, also led the Pac-10 in rushing last season.

Mayes was among 11 players added to the West squad. The others were placekicker Max Zendejas of Arizona, offensive lineman John Barns of Stanford, offensive lineman Keith Kartz of California; offensive lineman Jim FitzPatrick, defensive lineman Tony Colorito, and defensive back Jerome Tyler of USC; running back Tony Cherry and wide receiver Lew Barnes of Oregon, wide receiver Reggie Bynum of Oregon State, and linebacker Joe Kelly of Washington.
