A star-studded benefit to raise money for San Diego AIDS research is scheduled for the Civic Theatre March 10, according to sources familiar with the plans.

Actress Lily Tomlin will be among the entertainers, with co-chairmen former First Lady Betty Ford; U.S. Sen. Pete Wilson (R-San Diego) and his wife, Gayle, and Joan Kroc, owner of the San Diego Padres baseball team.

Old Globe Theatre artistic director Jack O’Brien will direct the gala event, which is designed to raise funds for the San Diego AIDS Project as well as for AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome) research at UC San Diego Medical Center, the San Diego County AIDS Assistance Fund and the Foundation for AIDS Research. Tickets for the event will range from $20 to $1,000. Those buying tickets at $250 or more will enjoy a sit-down dinner at the U.S. Grant Hotel with the performers. Vosburgh Productions has been signed to produce the event.
