Women’s Basketball : Fullerton Falls Short Against Pomona, 77-65

Vickie Mitchell scored 23 points and grabbed 18 rebounds to lead defending Division II champion Cal Poly Pomona to a 77-65 nonconference victory over Cal State Fullerton Wednesday night at Cal Poly Pomona.

The Broncos jumped to an early lead and extended it to 10 points at halftime, 33-23. The Titans narrowed the margin to seven points, 55-48, with nine minutes remaining before Pomona pulled away.

Robin Holmes led both teams with 30 points for the Titans; forward Kathy Gorman came off the bench to add 14.

The Broncos upped their record to 8-3; Fullerton dropped to 1-5.

In other nonconference action:

Cal State San Bernardino 68, Southern California College 66--Angela Adger scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as San Bernardino won an error-plagued game at SCC. Robbyn Gee, who finished with 8 points and 20 rebounds, scored the last three points of the game to give San Bernardino the win. The teams committed 64 turnovers.

Kim Nidey led the Vanguards with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
