‘Turkey Day’
After reading the phrase “Turkey Day” in your newspaper, and listening to people wish each other a nice “Turkey Day,” I feel a need to make a correction.
Thanksgiving was not Turkey Day. On Mother’s Day we honor our mothers. On Father’s Day we celebrate our fathers. On Valentine’s Day we rejoice in sharing our affection with loved ones.
Therefore, Turkey Day would necessarily involve celebrating and honoring turkeys instead of twisting off the dead animal’s neck and breaking its bones while swallowing pieces of the corpse.
