Community College Basketball : Cypress Makes Semifinals by Beating Mt. San Jacinto

Bill Dobbs scored 14 points to lead Cypress College to a 78-62 victory over Mt. San Jacinto Thursday night and a berth in the championship semifinals of the Riverside Holiday Tournament.

Dwayne Richey led Mt. San Jacinto (5-4) with 18 points.

The Chargers (7-3) will take a seven-game winning streak into tonight’s semifinal at 6 p.m. against Santa Monica.

Riverside City 83, Rancho Santiago 70--Wilson Foster scored 25 points on 11 of 14 shooting and had 8 steals to lead the Tigers (10-1) past the Dons in a championship quarterfinal game. Eric Schurman led Rancho Santiago (8-2) with 25 points. The Dons will play Ventura today at 2 p.m. in a fifth-place semifinal game.

Saddleback 73, College of the Desert 67--David Miles scored 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds and Tom Desiano added 14 points and had 8 assists to lead the Gauchos into the consolation semifinals. Saddleback will face Antelope Valley today at 3 p.m. Bill Gooden led the Roadrunners with 15 points.
