A 33-year-old Los Angeles man was struck and killed by a Southern California Rapid Transit District bus as he ran across a Huntington Park street. Police said the bus was approaching the intersection of Florence Avenue and Middleton Street when Jesus Fernandez ran in front of it, causing the driver to hit the brakes so hard that they locked. Fernandez “was apparently trying to catch the bus. He had a dollar bill in his hand,” Police Sgt. Dan Leili said.
