State Health Services Director Ken Kizer said the state has no evidence that Komfy Kid dolls pose a health hazard although they contain potentially harmful chemicals. Kizer told reporters his Department of Health Services is now testing the dolls. He said he has no plans to recall the dolls unless test results show a “health emergency.” Kizer noted that Los Angeles County health officials have found small amounts of kerosene, a phenol compound and malathion in the Taiwan-made dolls. But he said the amounts were not large enough to make the dolls unsafe.
