Cheryl Miller will spend her birthday in Riverside, her hometown, tonight when the USC women’s basketball team (10-1) plays defending national champion Old Dominion (5-3) at 7:30 in Riverside’s Raincross Center.

Miller, 22 today, was honored Thursday with a ceremony in the Riverside mayor’s office, and today is Cheryl Miller Day in Riverside.

Miller leads the second-ranked Trojans with her average of 26.5 points a game. Guard Cynthia Cooper is averaging 17.6 points.

Coach Marianne Stanley’s unranked Old Dominion team has fallen on hard times this season, having lost several key players to graduation. The top player is Donna Harrington, a 6-2 forward who is averaging 20.3 points and 12.4 rebounds a game, and 6-foot guard Adrienne Goodson who is averaging 16 points.
