Commodore laid off 200 at its Costa Mesa plant.

The move is the beleaguered personal computer maker’s second round of employee cutbacks this year and was seen as part of its efforts to cut costs in order to stem the losses exceeding $184 million in 1985. The Costa Mesa plant, which will be closed, made silicon chips. That work will now be transferred to Commodore International’s Norristown, Pa., plant.
