NBA Roundup : Rockets Rally, Keep Home Streak Alive

John Lucas scored 20 of his 27 points in the second half and fueled a rally that brought the Houston Rockets back from a 17-point halftime deficit to a 120-110 victory over the San Antonio Spurs Thursday night at Houston.

The win allowed the Rockets to stretch their home-court unbeaten streak to 19 games.

Lucas pulled the Rockets within two points with a pair of three-point baskets early in the fourth quarter.

Akeem Olajuwon, who picked up three fouls in the first 7:17 of the game and missed most of the first half, made a three-point play with 7:49 left for a 97-96 lead, and the Rockets never trailed again.

Steve Johnson scored 31 points for the Spurs, including 22 in the first half as San Antonio built its big lead. Ralph Sampson added 24 points for the Rockets.

Washington 95, Utah 89--Jeff Malone scored 32 points, and Cliff Robinson added 21 at Salt Lake City as the Bullets snapped a four-game losing streak by handing the Jazz their ninth defeat in the last 10 games.

Adrian Dantley scored 23 points in the second quarter for the Jazz but finished with only 32 after leaving the game with a hip injury midway in the fourth period.

Denver 94, Seattle 90--Reserve guard Mike Evans scored 12 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter, and Danny Schayes made two free throws in the final seconds as the Nuggets stopped the SuperSonics at Denver.

Calvin Natt had 23 points, and Lafayette Lever added 19 for the Nuggets.

Jack Sikma had 38 points and 16 rebounds for Seattle.

Atlanta 110, Detroit 99--Glenn Rivers scored 29 points, and Dominique Wilkins added 26 as the streaking Hawks dropped the Pistons at Pontiac, Mich.
