Sims Faces Mayweather in Lightweight Bout

Walter Sims of North Hollywood will meet former World Boxing Assn. champion Robert Mayweather in a 10-round main event Wednesday night at the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas.
Mayweather is the International Boxing Federation’s No. 5 lightweight contender. He has a record of 22-3, with 14 knockouts.
Mayweather won the WBA junior lightweight championship in January, 1983, with an eighth-round knockout of Sammy Serrano in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He successfully defended his title twice before being knocked out in February, 1984, by Rocky Lockridge in Beaumont, Tex.
Sims, who is unranked, has a record of 17-2-2, with 11 knockouts.
