The NCAA denied an appeal for eligibility by Chana Perry, star sophomore center on the Northeast Louisiana women’s basketball team.
The NCAA had declared Perry ineligible earlier this month, when officials concluded that she had been illegally recruited. At the same time, the NCAA put the school on probation for a year, making it ineligible to compete in the 1986 NCAA tournament.
It was the first time the NCAA had applied probation with penalties to a women’s program.
