Football player Sean McCoy of the University of Nevada Las Vegas, arrested after allegedly assaulting a highway patrolman and his wife, has been suspended from the team and will be dismissed from school if found guilty, university President Robert Maxson said.
McCoy, 19, was booked for investigation of battery on a police officer after an altercation Saturday night with trooper Mel Pecson and his wife, Bernadette.
McCoy, a linebacker who did not play last season after joining the team as a freshman in 1984 from Ganesha High School in Pomona, turned himself in to UNLV Athletic Director Brad Rothermel, who turned him over to police.
