Madrid Wins in Lightweight Fight at Reseda

Share

When Erik Madrid put down Neri Reyes early in the first round of the Reseda Country Club lightweight bout Tuesday night, it looked to be an easy night for the Sylmar fighter.

But 10 rounds later, Madrid, his right hand injured, was still locked in a desperate struggle with Reyes. In the end, Madrid squeaked out a narrow decision, winning on the three judges’ cards, 97-93, 96-93 and 98-94.

For Madrid, the win avenged the only loss of his 14-bout career, a knockout by Reyes (7-5) last March in Las Vegas.
