Huntington Beach : Coast Highway Flooding Due at Bolsa Chica Area

Share

Motorists driving to work this morning on Pacific Coast Highway in the Bolsa Chica State Beach area may find the eastbound lane closed to traffic as high tides were expected to cause some flooding on the roadway.

High tides caused minor flooding on the highway between Golden West Street and Warner Avenue early Wednesday morning, Police Sgt. David Miller said. By late morning all lanes were cleared, and by early afternoon the street was dry, police reported.

But motorists can expect the same situation today, said Kim Montgomery, dispatcher for Huntington State Beach Park.

High tides are usual during February, Montgomery said, adding that this Friday and Saturday “will probably be worst.”

Wednesday’s high tide was 6.1 feet, and today’s is expected to be 6.5 feet at 6:46 a.m., Montgomery said.
