The City of Patterson renamed one of its parks in honor of Felipe A. Garza, a 15-year-old boy whose dying wish was to donate his heart to a girl he had dated only once. Patterson, a small city about 75 miles south of San Francisco, had been trying to find a way to honor the boy since Jan. 5, when his heart was successfully transplanted into the chest of Donna Ashlock, 14. The boy had been troubled with severe headaches and had expressed a wish to donate his heart to the girl shortly before he suffered a fatal stroke. The girl was discharged 15 days after the transplant operation and doctors said early stages of recovery have passed without apparent complication.
