Atlanta Trades Eddie Johnson for Johnny Davis

The Atlanta Hawks and Cleveland Cavaliers swapped veteran guards during the NBA All-Star break, with Johnny Davis returning to Atlanta and Eddie Johnson moving to Cleveland.

The Hawks announced the trade Sunday.

Davis, 30, played for the Hawks for two seasons, 1982-83 and 1983-84, and averaged 12.6 points per game. He averaged 7.2 points in 38 games with Cleveland this season.

Johnson, 30, has played his entire career with the Hawks. He averaged 10.5 points in 39 games this season.

The Hawks first acquired Davis from the Indiana Pacers in exchange for a second round draft pick at the end of 1981. He is expected to join the team for Tuesday’s game in Houston.

Johnson is a two-time NBA All-Star. His best season was 1981, when he averaged 19.1 points a game.
