Oceanside
A 77-year-old Oceanside woman was killed when two cars collided on Oceanside Boulevard early Thursday morning, California Highway Patrol officials reported. Vernette Bass, a passenger in a car driven by her husband, Silas, 81, was killed at the scene.
The CHP said Silas Bass was driving east on the boulevard when he attempted a left turn onto Beverly Glen Drive and collided with a westbound car driven by Roger Hendricks, 28, of Camp Pendleton. Silas Bass and Hendricks were taken to Tri-City Hospital with minor injuries.
