Community College Basketball : Cerritos Stays in First Place With Victory

Jane Hentzen scored 23 points Friday night to lead the Cerritos College women’s basketball team to a 62-60 win over Rancho Santiago in a South Coast Conference game at Cerritos.
Shelly Bowcutt’s 15-foot jump shot with 1 1/2 minutes left gave Cerritos the lead for good at 61-60. The Falcons (11-2 in conference and 21-6 overall) remain in a first-place tie with Saddleback.
Leah Palmer scored 19 points to lead the Dons (1-11, 9-17).
In other South Coast Conference action:
Saddleback 90, Cypress 74--Cheryl Eiland scored 31 points and Connie Waikle added 30 for the Gauchos at Cypress.
Saddleback is 11-2 and 20-7, Cypress 3-9 and 8-14.
Cheryl Hoffman of Cypress led all scorers with 36 points.
Orange Coast 92, Golden West 65--Guard Amy Hathcock scored 24 points and forward Lisa Schumaker added 17 for the Pirates (9-3, 20-6) at Golden West.
Golden West was led by Jill Amon, who scored 16 points.
