A 3-month-old girl was killed and five other people were injured when two pickups collided head-on early Saturday morning in Granada Hills, Los Angeles police said.

The girl, Sarah Makay, of Granada Hills, was thrown through the windshield of her mother’s 1979 Dodge pickup and suffered massive head injuries. She was pronounced dead on arrival at Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills, Sgt. Jeff Martin said.

Sarah’s mother, Christe Makay, was driving west on San Fernando Mission Boulevard west of Danube Avenue about 1 a.m. when her truck crossed the center line and hit a 1986 Toyota pickup driven by Glenn Borras of Granada Hills, Martin said. Makay was in serious condition at Holy Cross with leg, face, chest and abdominal injuries, hospital officials said Saturday.
