Countywide : Badham, Packard Take Out Reelection Papers

Share

Reps. Robert E. Badham (R-Newport Beach) and Ron Packard (R-Carlsbad) have taken out papers for reelection.

Badham, who calls himself “the dean” of Orange County’s five-member congressional delegation, has served in the 40th District since 1976 and in elective office since 1962 when he was elected to the state Assembly. Badham took his papers out and returned them last week. So far he has one opponent, Steve Sears, an Irvine accountant and lawyer who is a Peace and Freedom Party candidate.

Packard, seeking a second term representing the 43rd District in southern Orange County and northern San Diego County, is thus far unopposed, but the filing deadline is March 7. Packard made history in 1984 when he won election as a write-in candidate.

Also filing for a congressional seat was Frank Boeheim, a peace activist and Peace and Freedom Party candidate from Orange who is seeking to unseat Rep. William E. Dannemeyer (R-Fullerton). Dannemeyer, who filed for reelection last week, has served in Congress since 1978. He was reelected in 1984 by 76% of the vote.
