Santa Ana : Youth Held in Death of Hit-and-Run Victim
A 17-year-old youth was being held Tuesday by juvenile authorities in connection with the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian in Santa Ana on Monday.
The youth, who was not identified because of his age, was arrested two blocks from where Maria Altamirano, 30, of Santa Ana, was struck by a pickup truck in a crosswalk at Main Street and Walnut Avenue at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
Altamirano was taken by paramedics to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
