San Diego police early Friday arrested four men and a woman suspected of robbing a La Jolla clothing store of $55,000 worth of leather merchandise.

Ronald Kevin Gipson, 26; Collier Ross, 30; Kenneth Neal Shaw, 31, and Jesse Lee Turner, 34, all of Los Angeles, and Elizabeth Ann Osckel, 20, of Hollywood were allegedly traveling in two cars stolen from Gardena when they allegedly broke into and looted the Stravaganza clothing store in the 1200 block of Prospect Street, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.

Police responding to the alarm were told by witnesses that the suspects were still in the area, Robinson said.

The suspects were spotted a short time later driving north on Interstate 5. After a chase, one car was stopped at the ramp near Villa de la Valle, the other at Loma Santa Fe, Robinson said.

The men were taken to County Jail downtown. Gipson and Ross are being held in lieu of $2,000 bail each on burglary counts; Shaw and Turner are being held in lieu of $4,000 bail each on counts of burglary, possession of stolen property and unlawfully taking a vehicle, a clerk at the jail said.

Osckel was charged with second-degree burglary and taken to the Las Colinas County Jail in Santee, where she posted $2,000 bail, a clerk at Las Colinas said.

The five are also being investigated for possible involvement in more than half a dozen window smashings and burglaries of La Jolla stores over the last six months, Robinson said.
