A 13-year-old boy playing with a handgun inside his North Hollywood house shot his 12-year-old companion to death after they began arguing, Los Angeles police said. The 13-year-old suspect was being held at Sylmar Juvenile Hall pending a presentation of the case to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office. The older boy’s parents were out of town when the 12-year-old came to visit, Officer Joe Pinuelas said. The youths were playing with guns kept in the house by the parents and the gunplay erupted into an argument, Pinuelas said. Police and paramedics found the younger boy dead after responding to reports of gunshots.
