San Clemente : Voters to Pick Between Growth Measures Today

Share

Residents will vote today on two initiatives that concern growth in the city’s eastern backcountry area. Passage of Measure A, sponsored by three City Council members, will reaffirm existing city growth policies, while victory for Measure B, put on the ballot by a citizens’ petition drive last year, will place a cap of 500 units per year on backcountry construction.

Voting will take place at 18 polling places throughout the city from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. For poll locations, registered voters can call City Hall at (714) 361-8200.

Votes will be tallied by computer in the City Council chambers under the supervision of City Clerk Myrna Erway. The vote counting is open to the public.

Election results will be made available as each precinct’s ballots are tabulated, Erway said, adding that final results probably will not be available before 11 p.m.
