Richard Gibney, athletic director at Lehigh, was found dead in his campus office at Bethlehehm Pa., Tuesday night in what has been classified as a suicide.
A university spokesman said Northampton County Deputy Coroner Ed Madden listed the cause of death as “strangulation--voluntary death.” Gibney was 42.
Gibney became athletic director at Lehigh in November 1984 after serving for eight years as associate director of athletics at Syracuse.
