A head-on collision of two thoroughbreds killed the two horses and hurt one jockey during a foggy Friday training session at Golden Gate Fields in Albany, Calif.
Jockey Kenny Tohill was treated for a broken left hand and facial cuts at Herrick Memorial Hospital in Berkeley following the accident.
Thoroughbreds Joey’s Esbee and L. Bond were killed.
An exercise girl was unseated by Joey’s Esbee, which then reversed direction to run the wrong way around the track. Joey’s Esbee and L. Bond collided head-on.
