Christ College Irvine Gets Postseason Bid

The Christ College Irvine basketball team has accepted an invitation to attend the National Little College Athletic Assn. tournament in Bristol, Tenn. It is the team’s first invitation to a postseason tournament in its five-year history.

The Eagles (24-6), co-champions of the Western Christian Athletic Assn., will open against St. Mary’s College of Orchard Lake, Mich. Monday at 2 p.m. The Eagles’ leading scorer and rebounder, Derwin Appleberry, who averages 25 points and 11 rebounds a game, will be entered in a dunking contest Sunday, to precede the national tournament.
