Anaheim : Group Posts $10,000 Reward for Murderer

An Anaheim group on Tuesday offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the murderer of a rental equipment firm operator last December.

At the same time, Anaheim police Tuesday began issuing flyers bearing a composite drawing of a man being sought for questioning in the slaying.

Anaheim Citizens Against Violent Crimes posted the reward in connection with the fatal attack last Dec. 17 on James B. Dizney, 56. Police said the badly beaten Santa Ana man was found on the floor of his office at the A & D Rental Center at 11:25 a.m. He died three days later from massive head injuries.

Anaheim Police Lt. William Wright said an unknown amount of cash was taken from a drawer in the office, located in the 1600 block of West Crescent Avenue.

Wanted for questioning is a man seen in the neighborhood on the day of the assault, Wright said. He emphasized that the man, who is described as about 32, about 180 pounds and standing about 5 feet, 7 inches tall with dark brown hair, is “not a suspect at this time.”

He said officers began distributing flyers in the Crescent Avenue area with a composite drawing of the man in the hope that someone may know his whereabouts.

The man being sought was last seen wearing jeans, old white tennis shoes, a red sweat shirt and a gray sweat shirt. He was seen driving an older pickup truck, possibly a 1978 Ford, with a white grill and a red, “possibly homemade” paint job, Wright said.
