YWCA to Honor Eight Women at Awards Dinner for Achievement

The YWCA of South Orange County will honor eight women for excellence in achievement at its annual awards dinner Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Westin South Coast Plaza Hotel, 666 Anton Blvd., Costa Mesa.

The women being recognized are: for business and community service, Harriet A. Harris, chairman of the board at Ridgewood Development Co.; for education, Grayce M. Roessler, coordinator of continuing education for health care professionals at Golden West College; for law, Betty Lou Lamoreux, presiding judge of the county Juvenile Justice Court; for medicine, Geni A. Bennetts, director of hemotology-oncology at Childrens Hospital of Orange County; for religion, Sister Corrine Bayley, director of the Center of Bioethics for St. Joseph Hospital; for fine arts, artist Joan Irving Brandt; for government, Norma Hertzog, mayor of Costa Mesa; for media, Jo Caines, community relations director for KOCE-TV.
