Skateboard Rider, 15, Killed in National City

NATIONAL CITY — A junior high school student was killed Friday night when he was struck by a car as he crossed a street on a skateboard, police reported.
Louis O. Panza, 15, of National City, was riding his skateboard north on D Avenue when he tried to cross 16th Street. A car driven by Vaughn Isom in the eastbound lane of 16th Street hit the boy, who died of massive head injuries at the scene of the 6:30 p.m. accident.
Isom told police that he didn’t see Panza enter the street. Isom was not cited.
