San Diego
A one-alarm fire swept through a single-family house early Wednesday morning in Southeast San Diego, causing an estimated $50,000 worth of damage, a spokeswoman for the San Diego Fire Department said.
It took 25 firefighters 10 minutes to combat the blaze, apparently started in the kitchen when food being cooked was left unattended, spokeswoman Ida Cheney said.
Cheney said a hole had to be cut in the roof of the house in the 5100 block of Trinidad Way to let the smoke out.
The Metro Arson Strike Team is investigating, Cheney said.
