Cal State Fullerton Splits Softball Doubleheader on Clark’s No-Hitter

Top-ranked Cal State Fullerton and sixth-ranked Texas A&M; split a nonconference women’s softball doubleheader Monday, with each team winning a 1-0 decision at Fullerton.

The Titans (19-3) won the opener as Connie Clark (11-1) pitched a no-hitter. Fullerton scored the only run in the fourth inning when Robin Goodin singled in Valerie Van Kirk.

Texas A&M; won the second game when Shawn Andaya scored on a wild pitch by Susan Le Febvre in the 12th inning. Andaya went the distance for the Aggies, striking out eight and allowing only two hits. Fullerton’s Le Febvre also pitched a complete game and had 19 strikeouts.

The teams may meet again this weekend, as Fullerton hosts the PONY Invitational Tournament Thursday through Sunday. Eleven of the country’s top 20 teams are entered in the tournament.
