Two Lakewood sisters pulled an injured man from his blazing, wrecked car moments before flames engulfed the passenger compartment, fire officials said. Debbie and Donna Wilson were driving near Normandie Avenue and Venice Boulevard after midnight when they came upon the burning car, which police said had collided with a larger auto. As Adel Mankarous, 28, of Los Angeles lay in his car, dazed and suffering from a broken right thigh, the Wilson women, in their 20s, pulled him to safety. A woman and her infant son in the other car, who were slightly injured, were treated and released at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, a nursing supervisor said. Mankarous was still being treated at County-USC Medical Center. “If these two women had not pulled the man from his car, he probably would have perished in the vehicle because he could not get out,” said Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells. Police were investigating the accident.
