Garden Grove Council Offers Commercial Remodel Rebates

Share

Rebates of up to 70% of architectural costs and 25% of individual improvement costs are available to small businesses that revitalize their buildings, under a program approved by the Garden Grove City Council.

Under the city’s commercial revitalization program, rebates for all improvements at an individual business are limited to no more than $55,000 over five years. The architectural fee rebate maximum is $5,000 and there is a $25,000 cap on individual improvement costs, according to Vicki Nelson of the city’s economic development staff.

The aim is to get property owners to do as much work as possible, she said. Applications will be reviewed by the economic development staff and, if recommended for consideration, will be forwarded to the council for a decision.

Due to limited funding, the program is available only to those businesses in redevelopment areas, she said.

In addition to general renovation, the program provides for rebates of 50% (up to $25,000) of the cost for new signs if the applicant also removes all nonconforming signs, upgrades the parking lot and renovates all building facades in a uniform theme.

Information about the program can be obtained from the city of Garden Grove, 11391 Acacia Parkway, P.O. Box 3070, Garden Grove 92642.
