One Defendant Freed in Koreatown Slaying

Charges against Chang Bok An, one of two men accused in a gangland-style shooting Oct. 3 in a Koreatown restaurant in which one man was killed and two others were wounded, were dismissed Tuesday by a Los Angeles Municipal Court judge.

Judge Xenophon Lang did find, however, that there was sufficient evidence for the other defendant, Pyung Tae Kang, to stand trial for murder in the death of Keun Soo Lim and attempted murder in the wounding of K.C. Paik and Sung Yi.

The prosecution contends that the shootings occurred because of a dispute over a dance club owned by one of the victims.

Arraignment was set for April 8.
