Cal Lutheran 8, Wisconsin (Whitewater) 1--Chris Vanole pitched his second complete game on a four-hitter at Westmont College.

Vanole (2-2) struck out five and walked four.

Left fielder Jay Knight continued to swing a hot bat for the Kingsmen. He entered the game with a .448 average and went 3 for 3 with two RBIs and scored a run.

Teammates Kevin Wynn and Derrick Evans also had big games at the plate. Wynn was 3 for 3 and scored twice. Evans was 2 for 3 with a two-run home run in the fourth.

Lutheran (12-6) plays host to Lewis and Clark College of Portland, Oregon today at 11 a.m.

Metro State (Denver) 14, The Master’s 6--The Mustangs committed five errors en route to losing a nonconference game at home. It was The Master’s third straight loss.

Craig Bonata had the big bat for Metro State, going 4 for 6 with two home runs and five RBIs. Bonata’s three-run home run highlighted a seven-run third inning for the Roadrunners.

The four other Metro State runs in the inning were unearned.

Kurt Theilen led The Master’s, going 3 for 5 with a two-run home run in the seventh inning. Teammate Sean Fielding had a two-run home run in the fourth.

The Master’s fell to 10-15 overall. Metro State is 2-6.
