Overcast to Greet Worshipers on Easter Morning
- Share via
Overcast skies were expected to greet Easter worshipers today at sunrise services in the Southland.
Although National Weather Service officials predicted thundershowers in the mountain and desert areas, they said they did not expect rain along the coast. Partly cloudy skies and muggy weather were forecast for this afternoon, with high temperatures in the upper 70s.
Good air quality also was expected, ending a spell of unusually heavy smog this month.
Air Quality Management District officials said this month was the smoggiest March since 1974. Five first-stage smog alerts--when the air is considered unhealthful--were called during the month, they said.
Easter celebrations Saturday, including the 16th annual South-Central Los Angeles Easter Parade, the Easter Family Festival in South Park and a blessing of pets at Olvera Street, were marked by warm, humid weather. The high temperature at the Los Angeles Civic Center was 77 degrees.
